I was searching for something involving UNI-CRON from the original animated The Transformers: The Movie , and a bunch of The Last Unicorn shit came up, including this hilarious rendition of the movie's theme song by America. I especially like the way he sings, "Can you see her, as she SPARKLES?" near the end.

Also note this entire thing is shot in a very small, single location, with him not moving once.

As an aside, it's my contention that nothing has been done with unicorns -- outside of the film, The Last Unicorn -- that is not completely pathetic, disgraceful or deeply disturbing.

Dragon Ball Z Opening

This is essentially the origin of my Z tattoo, taken from the Dragon Ball Z logo.

When I was really young, like ten or eleven,  I used to see this animation and hear this music all the time in Singapore, on the Malaysian television stations, broadcast in Japanese with Malaysian subtitles. There was no way for me to understand what this was or what was going on, but the upbeat music and imagery of the little boy with the monkey's tail flying through the air and running with the dragon stayed with me for years.

I was much older and about to become an official grown-up when I remembered DBZ, and was at the time overcome with nostalgia for simpler days. The stylized Z tattoo, representing for me the spirit of this animation, seemed apt.

You can "label" your videos so that they stream onto a page with videos in the same playlist. It should be noted that assigning "labels" cannot be done within the blogger module on youtube, it has to be done on the blog itself. Technology isn't as seamless as I'd like.

So I found out today that Youtube caps video favorites off at 500. Considering we're nearly half way there in less than 2 weeks of having a shared youtube account, it was time for a backup plan, as Youtube failed us.

Today I bring you the Ladies of the PQ blog. This will serve as a video/link sharing commons for all of us. This is not a journal, so please refrain from self-promotion/non-media sharing updates. Plz leave that to other realms of the interweb.

There are some advantages to using blogger instead of youtube. We now can take easy ownership of our postings, reply to postings, etc. Although Youtube may have failed us in certain ways it hasn't in all. Youtube allows for quick and easy blogging of videos. Sam has explained how to do this (below).

I will be turning our former playlist categories into tags so that we can keep our stuff organized. I will also make you're all admins so that you can tweak the layout/features as you see necessary.

How to post videos to this blog the easy way

Google owns both Blogger and YouTube. Since they are Google, they have made it streamlined and easy for us to post YouTube videos to this group blog.

It takes some setting up but once it's done you can post to this blog directly from the YouTube page. Fuck you, middle man!

Connect Your Accounts
1) Sign in to YouTube using your Gmail login here. If you already have a YouTube account, you can connect your existing account to your Gmail as well. PS: Make sure it is your own YouTube user name and not the LOTPQ group user name.

2) Go to this link to add a blog to your account.

3) Choose "Blogger" as your Blog Service, then enter your username/password (which should be the same as your Gmail login).

4) Give it a second to retrieve your information. It should only take about 15 seconds, so may I suggest this video while you wait?

5) It should show Ladies of the PQ as a blog. Click the check box next to it, and click Add Selected Blogs.

Now you can post videos directly to the blog.


Posting Videos Directly To The Blog
1) Go to any video's YouTube page -- may I suggest this one??

2) There is a Share tab beneath the video, with buttons for Email, MySpace -- click the little link that says "(more share options)".

3) You'll see a "Post to Blog" area appear, with Ladies of the PQ as an option in the pulldown menu. Fill out the title and text you want to appear with the video, click Post to Blog.

4) You have now made all your friends better people. Go to http://ladiesofthepq.blogspot.com/ and bask in your golden discovery.
