For those of you who don't know, Tom Daschle had to withdraw his nomination as Secretary of Health & Human Services because of late tax payments related to the use of a car and driver. If you're like me, you're probably wondering, "What exactly does that have to do with health and/or human services?" At any rate, the whole situation makes this advertisement from Daschle's 1986 reelection campaign absurdly ironic:
"A penny saved is a penny earned... is a penny hidden from the IRS."
