John Krasinski & Mya Rudlph in Quirky White People Movie X

I think this movie actually looks kind of good, but this Quirky White People genre is getting out of hand.

What are some other Quirky White People movies? Juno, Garden State, every Wes Anderson or Noah Baumbach movie, Lost in Translation, Little Miss Sunshine, Rachel Getting Married, Dan In Real Life, Pieces of April, Sunshine Cleaning, any Whit Stillman movie.

What are the components of a Quirky White People movie? Bleak and/or depressing surroundings with occasional allowances for crushing normalcy of suburbia or the crippling burden of enormous wealth; critically unsafe or otherwise dilapidated transportation; scene of someone urinating, usually a beautiful woman in corduroy; childlike drawings littered about the film, ideally in the opening and/or closing credits; inexplicably deep connections with total strangers, usually psychopaths; non-violent yet tremendously dysfunctional relationship with parental figures; alt-folk soundtrack, usually with a number of cover versions, but the whole thing basically sounds like Iron & Wine.

What Quirky White People films and trappings have I forgotten?

I agree with your description 100%, Andy. Two more characteristics off the top of my head would be: 1.) characters who show as little actual physical exertion as possible, so that when they finally do something athletic in the movie it's regarded as comical; and 2.) male actors who traditionally do not have a beard growing a beard for the role.
